Description

Damiana is a shrub with the scientific name Turnera diffusa. It is native to Texas, Mexico, South America, Central America, and the Caribbean. It has a reputation as an aphrodisiac. Other properties include antioxidant, stimulant, diuretic, laxative and kidney tonic. May help with menopause and infertility, anxiety and depression. Often works best when combined with other herbs. Potential aromatase inhibitor and T booster.

Potential side effects/Safety

Avoid in diabetes and surgery. Do not use 2 weeks prior to surgery. Avoid in pregnancy, breastfeeding and children. Caution in iron deficiency. Drug interactions may exist. May have an estrogen lowering effect. May reduce iron absorption.
