Description

Vitamin K1, or phylloquinone, is found naturally in plants, especially green vegetables. It goes directly to the liver and helps maintain healthy blood clotting. It functions as a coenzyme for vitamin K-dependent carboxylase, an enzyme required for the synthesis of proteins involved in hemostasis and bone metabolism, and other diverse physiological functions.

Average daily dose is 100 mcg-200 mcg.

Potential side effects/Safety

Blood thinners. People with a rare metabolic condition called Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency should avoid vitamin K. Generally well tolerated.
