Viscum album (Mistletoe) young shoots
Therapeutic actions:
• Highly symbolic plant, widely used by Celtic ancestors.
• Viscum album has antisclerotic properties and is recommended for sclerocystic conditions in all organs and glands (break down sclerotic tissues in the body).
• Has some quieting action on the NS: Lowers HR and BP. Eases anxiety, promotes sleep, decreases panic attacks.
• It is especially at the cardiovascular level that Viscum album has an antisclerotic effect (hypotensive, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, active on fibrosclerosis).
• Used in conjunction with chemotherapy treatments to break down tissue and have chemo agent act as toxin to the tumor. Breaks down the glue that holds tumours, benign and malignant, together.
• It possesses potent diuretic properties as well as a stimulating action on the immune system.
• Breaks down scar tissue after surgery.
Clinical indications:
• Cardiovascular: Hypertension, hyperlipidemia, atherosclerosis, ventricular hypertrophy in menopausal women, cardio pulmonary heart.
• Nervous: Some epileptic syndromes, neuralgia, sciatica, migraines (menopause / andropause). Cerebrovascular issues, involving blood flow to the brain. Vertigo.
• Musculoskeletal: As a diuretic it relieves arthrosis, gouty arthritis, increases articular motility.
• Respiratory: Emphysema, cardiac asthma, fibrosis of the lungs.
• Uro-genital: Fibrocystic disease (breast / ovaries), menorrhagia. Ovarian cysts/PCOS.
• Other: Benign tumours (fibrocystic), neoplasia of all kinds (limits the spread of metastasis).
• Prevents chemotherapy side effects and protects from the damages of such therapies.
Consider in combination with:
• Olea europaea, to break down benign cysts
• Acer campestre, Olea europaea, Prunus amygdalus, Cercis siliquastrum, for arteriosclerosis
• Juniperus communis, Ribes nigrum, for assisting in decreasing the SE of chemotherapy
• Alnus glutinosa, for vertigo
• Crataegus oxyacantha, Prunus amygdalus, Olea europaea, for HTN
• Tilia tomentosa, for panic attack
• Tilia tomentosa, Ficus carica, for insomnia
0.05 ml (extract 1:20 …. 2.5 mg )
Adults and children > 12 years
• Depending on the patient and the problem being treated, 5-10 drops daily are recommended.
• To start with, 5 drops should be taken; this dose can be increased by one drop daily to reach a maximum of 15-20 drops daily, until the required and stable result is acquired. The dosage is then maintained for the remainder of the treatment period.
• The length of the treatment depends on the health problem and the gemmotherapy remedy used. Normally it is recommended that the treatment be continued for three (3) months. The treatment should last for a minimum of three weeks and can be repeated several times, allowing for example a treatment-free week between each course.
• One or two remedies, the most applicable, can be combined; more are not usually necessary. However, the complexes have the advantage of combining several extracts in one formula, thus facilitating the treatment. A complex may, if considered necessary, be combined with another complex or individual bud extract.
